In Honor of a Friend Departed

by Jayne Johnson on February 20, 2009

A dear friend lost her husband recently. Along with photos and wonderful stories about him, she also included the following in the Memorial Service for him. In his honor, and hers and their two little boys, I share the following with you.

“Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free. I’m following the path God laid for me.

I took His hand when I heard Him call. I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day. To laugh, to love, to work, or play:

Tasks, left undone, must stay that way. I found that place at the close of day.

If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy.

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss; Ah, yes, these things, I too, will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow. I wish you sunshine of tomorrow.

My life’s been full, I’ve savored much. Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all to brief; Don’t lengthen it with undue grief.

Lift up your head and share with me. God wanted me now.

He set me free.”

Jennifer Hudson – God Bless Her

by Jayne Johnson on February 2, 2009

Interesting development.

I posted this morning about what a fantastic job Jennifer Hudson did in singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl yesterday.

Just read some news that she was lip-synching.

I’m positive that she didn’t want to lip-synch but according to the report, the show’s producer insisted.

Jennifer’s mother, brother and 7-year old nephew were murdered in October. Can you imagine dealing with such a magnitude of tragedy? The show’s producer was looking out for her, to make sure her first public performance since October was perfect, and to make her feel safe and secure.

And it was perfect. Her voice was stunningly beautiful, and I’m not retracting one word of my earlier post.

Watch Jennifer Hudson, former American Idol contestant and Oscar Winner for “Dream Girls” as she sings the U.S. National Anthem at the Super Bowl yesterday.

She did a beautiful rendition – one of the best ever. The elegance and grace she displays is inspiring also. She seemed to have a tinge of fear – who wouldn’t, singing for gazillions of viewers? But she was wonderful, and I say Bravo! After the last notes, which were stunning, she appeared relieved, as the look on her face seemed to say with utmost humility and reverence, “Thank You, God.” It was very sweet, and so is she. This is worth watching. The inspiration of music at its best.

Applaud All Your Goals – They Support Your Purpose!

by Jayne Johnson on January 30, 2009

One of the pitfalls in goal-setting is to think of goals you want to go for and then instantly belittling them, seeing them as not good enough, not important enough, not big enough, etc.

This is a trap that instantly limits YOU.

It limits what you BE.

It limits what you DO.

It limits what you HAVE.

It limits what you ACHIEVE.

Limiting yourself is out of integrity. It does not honor who you are and what you are capable of.

All your goals, no matter their magnitude, can support your purpose in life.

When your purpose and your goals align, MAGIC HAPPENS!

Don’t let anyone tell you that your goals are too small. Nonsense!

Applaud your goals. They are ALL important!
